About Dancetime
Publications
This organization and its comprehensive website are devoted to
the research, performance, and preservation of 500 years of theatrical
and social dance within Western Culture. The focus of the site shifts
from the 15th and 16th Century Italian courts, through the 17th and
18th Century French court, into the 19th Century English and American
upper classes, and finally to the popular American culture of the
20th Century. The dances from each of these eras trace the process
of cultural changes.
The detailed website leads visitors to the sources of information
on historical theatrical and social dance as preserved through film,
books, videos, and DVDs. It offers original sources and carefully
researched reproductions. The reconstructions and recreations are
performed by professional dancers from France, and from the U.S.
dance company, Dance Through Time.
Dancetime Publications is a publishing company devoted to the creation
and distribution of historical information on our heritage of social
